I enjoy research, I love being creative, and I love to learn new things. I began designing when I was about 13 years old. It started with Expages, developed to Geocities and then I began setting up servers and designed layouts in Photoshop, coded them using HTML and used Greymatter as my blogging platform.
Unbeknownst to me that it could be a career, I just always chose to follow the things I was passionate about, which led me to my position currently as the Creative Manager at The Grid Agency.
“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs
I’ve always loved to research. I mean, after all, that is how I found out Santa Clause didn’t exist, I looked him up in the encyclopedia and found out that he wasn’t real at nine because I had my doubts. One of my first few jobs was at FDI Collateral Management, where I worked in the Research Department. I searched for missing titles that needed to be sent off to their owner. I enjoyed it honestly; I would track down titles sometimes in people’s desks, or within a bunch of other titles in the wrong folder. I would find excitement from this because I loved doing the research. (I mean, I was only 18, and it was my first real job. So yes, exciting.)
Research has always been my thing. I excelled at research papers, and my projects were always known to be the most creative- I mean who does a project featuring cowboys and indians and plays ‘Will Smith – Wild Wild West’ after the project? Pretty swanky for a 4th grader, I must say.
Working as a Research Agent, I knew I wanted more. I didn’t know what more was until I joined the moral team and met the woman who did marketing there. I discovered the things I loved doing and had a passion for, were things I could have a career in. After that, I decided to pursue my Bachelor’s at Sacramento State. In 2015, ended up graduating with my Communications Degree with an emphasis of Public Relations.
“I’m hungry for knowledge. The whole thing is to learn every day, to get brighter and brighter. That’s what this world is about. You look at someone like Gandhi, and he glowed. Martin Luther King glowed. Muhammad Ali glows. I think that’s from being bright all the time, and trying to be brighter.” – Jay-Z
I always knew I wanted something more because being a research analyst didn’t tickle my creative side. I began to pursue a more creative career path when I started doing internships during my Junior year at Sacramento State. I interned for LAUNCH (before it was called TBD), and I was part of the Sacramento State Fashion Association as their graphic designer and Public Relations Sacramento State Association as their content curator.
I found my true calling when I began at The Grid Agency as their Social Media Marketing & Events Assistant. At the time I had a lot of experience in designing for myself and the target I was used to, but not multiple companies and different clients or audiences.
Working at The Grid Agency has taught me how to manage social media accounts, create graphics, develop websites, and also manage graphic and website projects that we outsourced. I went from intern to Creative Manager after I graduated from Sacramento State.
I enjoy working with entrepreneurs and brands that I am passionate about. If you are interested in working with me, please contact me below.
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well worn path; and that will make all the difference.” – Steve Jobs
